within just a few weeks i'll be able to say that all the major renovations in the house are done. you can't imagine how excited i am for that day to come! jay finished prepping the floors in the kitchen and dining room to lay the wood floors. after all the debate we decided to just get the same floors that are in the rest of the house and stain them the same color. that will make the house look consistent and bring the addition together with the old part of the house. consistency is good!
jay made two trips to pick up all the flooring. it's exciting to see it in our house. makes the end more real!
part of finishing the house includes updating and remodeling the main floor bathroom. initially we had planned to take up the old linoleum and just refinish the original wood floors. but jay discovered a rotted floor around the toilet instead. a while ago a plumber had told us we had a leak, but we ignored it with so many other things going on. thankfully the rot is only right around the toilet ring. so jay will replace those subfloor boards and then lay the leftover herring bone flooring in the bathroom in a brick like pattern. i think it will look pretty cool.
almost done. almost done. almost done.

I love it when I saw the floor’s fabulous makeover! Especially your work around the toilet, that was indeed very challenging. Replacing that part of the floor around the toilet bowl with subfloor boards definitely prevents it from continually rotting. All in all, from laying them down up to the finishing, everything went cool. Good job, guys!
