i've been inspired lately by breezy, light windows and curtains, especially ones covered by pretty lace. in a recent dwell magazine, one designer left windows completely bare in her clients' home. with all the chaos from the renovations, i've become very fond of sparse, open, light, decluttered spaces!
our home is also leaning more towards a masculine retro modern feel. so i wanted some frilly curtains that would balance that out but that would also allow plenty of light in and not feel heavy or overwhelming.
searching thrift stores and flea markets for some vintage lace, i finally stumbled upon a steal and the perfect coverings for the windows in our dining room and play room. i got 13 perfectly sized panels of a geometric lace for $10! Though the lace curtains are light and airy, the pattern is perfect for the more masculine decor. I had to use four panels for each of the dining room windows because they're so wide. I used four more panels to cover the two windows in the play room. Since our house is raised a little bit, I'm not that concerned about people peeking in the windows and love having as much light as possible shining in all day long.
