This will be hard to explain! I've mentioned the renovations going on in the upstairs bedroom of our house several times. Initially it was going to be the kids room, but now we've decided to make it our master suite...and we are REALLY, REALLY excited about this! We'll be away visiting my parents for a little while and while we're gone, we're handing over the keys to a contractor who will be "destroying" our house! Jay is REALLY, REALLY excited that someone else will be doing all of this major work!
So let me try to explain the area pre-demo so that you can appreciate it post-demo:
View from our back door. See those stairs to the right? Those go upstairs to the master suite and will be completely removed. The white door on the left side of the photo goes down to the basement. When you come in through the front door, there's a closet immediately in front of you. That closet will soon hold the stairs to the upstairs. The stair case will be directly above the stairs to the basement.
The entire area from just right of the basement door all the way over to where the stairs are now will be framed in for a laundry/storage room. (Please excuse the mess...we are getting ready for a trip. No...I can't lie. This is what it usually looks like!)
The doors going into our current bedroom will also be removed and framed in so that the only entrance to the bedrooms will be from the front of the house. No more running in circles!
OK...once you get upstairs, there are three doors on one wall. The windows are on the opposite wall. (If you want to see the windows and how the room has progressed from the very beginning, click here.) The door on the very right is the one we just came through up the stairs. That area will be floored in and will become the master closet.
The next door over currently goes into attic space. That will become the master bath. The chimney will stay in view and be the corner of the new bathroom. The contractor is even taking the shingles off the old roof that is now inside the new roof to prevent future fire hazards! Yippee!
Moving on... The door on the left also goes into attic space and will become a nice-sized landing for the new stairs. I will probably put my sewing room there since it is currently dwarfed and chaotic in the play room (see first picture). I was hoping to keep the amazing nooks and crannies the old attic has to offer, but was told we could put angles back in after the fact. Weird, but easier apparently. Oh well! I can't have it all!
Lula, who is very obviously occupying the space at present, will be moving back to her old room. Diesel will get our old bedroom, and we'll eventually move upstairs. All in good time! Can't wait to show the finished project. Until then...vacation time!

Looks like the renovation is going like clockwork. I love the color that you've chosen; is that the nursery? Anyway, no doubt that your renovation will result into something modern and tasteful.
