First of all, I hope everyone has had/is having a lovely Thanksgiving. I had the best pumpkin pie tonight made by mother-in-law. Yum! There is so much to be thankful for...amazing family, friends, Jesus, my old house, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and of course...POM POMS!!!
A couple of weeks ago I posted a DIY on yarn Pom Poms and have been thinking of little else ever since. (OK, that's a slight exaggeration, but I have been thinking about them a lot!) Some of you told me about pom pom projects you decided to work on, which inspired me even more! So I've been busy making pom poms using my method, and I also broke down and bought a pom pom maker at Michael's. It's not my favorite, but it does make nice, consistent pom poms.
Anyway, I was inspired by several other things as well:
Nathalie Bearden's beautiful white pom pom wreath and the garland for her little girls' room,
...and finally, my creative friend's projects for her daughter and gift bow made from rafia:
I loved how airy the pom pom was for this headband and decided to try my own. I made a little headband (using my serger for the first time!) for my niece along with some other hair clips...one featuring a mini pom pom:
I also wanted a lovely, chaotic garland for my fireplace for the holidays:
I'm not even close to being done making and using pom poms all over my house, but this seemed like a good start!

What would you charge me for a colorful pom pom garland like you made for your fireplace? :) email me- that's so cute!

Love the Christmas garland! We spent a lovely Thanksgiving Day in Williamsburg, VA. In the tradition of Williamsburg, all doors of the historical homes and taverns were arrayed with wreaths made with dried berries, fruit, and flowers along with fresh apples and pineapples. Many of the wreaths also featured magnolia leaves. You may enjoy checking these out at http://www.squidoo.com/christmas-wreaths-colonial-williamsburg I am going to try my hand at one of these wreaths (although I have not a craft-ridden bone in my body). We'll see. If you have any interest in one of these "live" wreaths--you may want to check out this webpage http://www.ehow.com/how_5085452_make-williamsburg-wreath.html

I like how Jesus is bookended by friends and an old house. That sentence sounds like two Grammy acceptance speeches cut and pasted together from Taylor Swift and Kayne West. Awesome!

oh jay...you never cease to make me laugh! sarah, the clips and your garland are so cute i can't stand it!!!

Thanks, Evie...and yes, leave it to Jay. I was fully aware of how that sentence was written and the point of it was to lead into pom poms...not to stand on its own! But only English majors would be aware of such things. Business majors simply wouldnt understand. :)
